whippany fire house

Project Overview

Programmatic features include garage space for truck, full living quarters for firefighters above, and a spiral stair feature in the front turret. Functionally, the spiral stair connects the ground floor entrance to a 2nd story banquet/recreation facility used at times for public events; one might consider this spiral stair a nod to the circular/vertical movement of a fire pole, typically used by firefighters to traverse from their living quarters on the 2nd floor to the trucks & equipment below when responding to an emergency. Copper roof accents further accentuate a series of dormers, to give this firehouse a more residential feel.
