Project Overview
Design for a 3-story mixed-use dance studio space. In addition to 9 studio spaces of varying size, the design also includes a café, retail store, and a bright and airy 3-story atrium space. The color coded floorplan diagrams, make it easy to define programmatic uses & relative sizes of spaces as they relate to the whole building, at a quick glance. The exterior features large arched glazing, allowing large amounts of natural light into the studio spaces on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The large windows also allow the passerby a view of the inter-workings of a dance studio, namely the dancers practicing. That movement of dancers between and within spaces, in and of itself creates the notion of a “living”, active façade.
